DESCRIPTION:AADI KRITHIKA and ANAGHA ASHTAMI VRATAM\nThursday August 6th – 6:30 PM\nProgram:\nPlease join us for the auspicious occasion of Aadi Krithika / Krithigai\, a very special day for worshipping Lord Murugan.  Lord Murugan\, also known as Skanda or Subrahmanya\, is the son of Lord Śiva and brother of Lord Vināyaka.  He is revered for his role as the commander of the army of the Dēvās.  Lord Murugan puja will be performed followed by Anagha Ashtami Vratam. \nSponsorship for the Lord Murugan puja and Anagha Ashtami Vratam is $31 / family \nLord Dattatreya as Anagha Swami and and his consort Anagha Devi along with the Ashta Siddhis (the 8 Cosmic Powers) who are their sons are worshipped in the powerful Anaghashtami Vrata.  The details about this vrata are given in the Datta Purana compiled by Sage Vēda Vyāsa. Lord Dattatrēya Himself initiated the emperor Kartaveryarjuna into this worship. King Dasaratha and Lord Sri Rāma had also performed this puja. Sri Krishna had Dharmarāja perform it. \nBenefits \n\nAgha is sin. Anagha is one who removes sin. The sins that we commit throughout the day and night by thought\, word and deed obstruct our path to progress. The Anagha Vratam effectively eradicates our sins.\nBy performing this worship not only is one relieved of all worldly difficulties and miseries\, but one is blessed with prosperity\, fulfillment of desires\, attainment of spiritual knowledge and ultimately liberation.\nPerforming Sri Anagha Vratha with devotion bestows us with the knowledge\, good memory power\, peace\, prosperity\, money\, energy and strength to face any difficulties.\nIt gives peace to oneself and to the world.
