Worshipping Lord Hanuman with betel leaves honors the sacred moment when Hanuman once offered Himself as tamboolam to Lord Rama. Out of pure love and devotion, He adorned His entire body with betel leaves and stood before Rama as the offering itself.  Moved by this gesture, Lord Rama declared that offering betel leaves to Hanuman would please Him deeply, and that devotees who do so would receive His grace.  Betel leaves symbolize freshness, purity, and auspiciousness, and are believed to bring prosperity and blessings to those who offer them with devotion.
